Sheep stunt and RSPCA idiocy

***

It may be a daft stunt to wheel a sheep into a supermarket but that is nothing compared to the stupidity of this official comment:

"We have tracked down the sheep's owner but we can't return it to its flock for six days because of restrictions on the movement of livestock."

Now I don't like the RSPCA but this kind of comment reveals the utter lunacy of our livestock regulations. Presumably the sheep is camped out in ASDA if it can't be moved?

not sure why you don't like the RSPCA - I expect its because you would still like to be out and about chasing wildlife with dogs. The sheep incident isn't just a daft stunt, its theft, and then it's breaches of transit regs, and then its the potential for spreading disease to other stock, and then its breaches of the Animal Welfare Act, and the potential for zoonotic disease spread to pregant women who may have either been immediately in the vicinity of the sheep or who came into contact with someone who touched the sheep and did not properly disinfect themselves, and probably various other things too.
I am not going to attack you for being a Tory, or a councillor, both of which are pretty pointless things - but I will atack your shallow views which you use to fill your blog.
At least your signature on your initial message is correct - Idiot!

Calm down, Richard! And please don't assume about what I may of may not believe, I;ve never chased any wildlife with or without a dog - maybe there's a case for restrictions of movement (probably overplayed)maybe not. But to the layman not simply taking Dolly back to her flock seems pretty daft.

Of course I may be pointless and shallow - but hey, this is my place!

Richard, well said, the RSPCA have become a total farce and a waste of a good donation, the quicker they are no more the better.

fair enough Simon,am now calm.
I am sure the RSPCA have got more than enough animals to feed and water without getting stuck with the sheep too. Restrictions are restrictions, and the only poeple who can ease them are DEFRA, or Animal Health specifically I imagine.
To anonymous - thank you for your support, but I was speaking for the RSPCA, not against them. I like the RSPCA and support their work.
